Plastic is a great medium because it lasts lifetimes. These are my selected works in acrylic, the paint will last longer than the canvas, the idea will live longer than the object used to express and myself as well.
top to bottom, left to right:
“Parvenu Artistica” or “The Green One”
A piece converted from digital format, originally a 3ds max model touched up in photoshop, converted to an acrylic painting done.
“Obama’s Ghetto Pass” or “Michelle X”
This statement was a commentary on how Michelle Obama is viewed by the media, and a lot of my friends, as the thing that makes Obama more acceptable to the African American community, his “strong black woman.”
“Self-Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man”
This is my self portrait from freshman year, a testament to my ego; you could see it from down the street and recognize that it was me. And yes, sometimes I look like Ludacris and Bob Marley.
“Legendary Juice”
Something about this photo of Tupac captivated me enough to paint the first layer years ago and the second layer years later. I’m very proud of this piece.
“I-40″
I’m in love with the high way and overpasses. I love to see the road coming, and the idea of a road intersecting coming from miles away intrigues me.
“Obama”
Obama has awesome oratory skills, referencing the likes of Martin Luther King in his intonations and poetic scriptings. This pose was very nice, I enjoyed practising the dimunition in perspective.
